Restoration Package

It doesn’t get any better than this…your floors will be perfect!

The San Diego SC –  “Stone Restoration Package” is our Highest Level of care for Natural Stone.  Our Restoration Package includes the same Seven Steps from our San Diego SC – Renovation Package with the addition of one added step…Lippage Removal. Lippage removal is the “grinding” of the stone edges so the floor is completely flat. (Lippage removal is normally performed on floors) However, since the process to remove lippage involves grinding the floor this single step guarantees that all scratches, etches, or any other damage will be removed. Upon completion of the “Restoration Package” your floors will be far more eloquent than the day they were origianlly installed!

Areas Available: Interior – Exterior – Floors – Counters – Showers – Stone Tub Decks

Recommended Surfaces: Travertine – Limestone – Marble

San Diego SC – Stone Restoration Includes:

  1. Cleaning: Apply appropriate cleaning solution and allow to sit on surface for 10-15 minutes. Machine & hand scrub area. Followed with a self contained pressure washing & extraction rinse. (Our pressure washing & rinse is a specialized tool which keeps all the water on the area being cleaned.)
  2. Lippage Removal: This process removes all the high spots between tiles, basically flattening the entire floor, not level…just flat. (With some stones (such as Travertine) a normal result of this process is “holes are opened up and exposed” thus requiring an additional step, re-grouting, to re-fill these areas, this step is included with the Full Stone Restoration)
  3. Re-Grout:(For Travertine Only) During the grinding process  it is normal for small to medium holes to be exposed. We will fill these holes with the same material that fills the grout joints. (cement grout)
  4. Fill All Holes: Cement fill minor holes, Polyester fill larger holes & hairline seam cracks. (Seam cracks in floors are often caused by movement SDSC can fill these cracks, however, we can not guarantee “invisible look” or that these areas may crack in the future.)
  5. Remove all Etches (dull spots): These are marks on the floor that are often mistaken as “stains” but in reality are dull spots caused by the spilling of foods & products that contain acidic liquids.
  6. Scratch Removal: Hand tool remove deep scratches – small scratches will be removed during the “Honing Process”.
  7. Honing: A Pre- Finish Process that removes Etches (Dull Spots),  minor scratches, and prepares the surface for the final finish whether it be: Honed- Satin-Polish or High- Polish.
  8. Re-Finishing: Final process to achieve desired stone finish. (Finish will match as closely as possible current finish unless another finish is requested)
  9. Sealer: One Application of Penetrating Sealer especially manufactured for Natural Stone.

Note:

ITEMS NOT INCLUDED:

  • No Hand Tool Edge PolishingWill Blend to Current Finish with Floor Machine.
  • Large Furniture Moving: SDSC is not responsible for moving of large items, beds, china cabinets, entertainment sections in order to have access to areas being serviced. If these items are not moved SDSC will perform services around these items.

Important Notes: The applications of Proper Sealers for natural stone DO NOT add any SHINE to your stone. Their purpose is to make cleanup of any dark liquid spills easier before they can possible stain your stone and grout. In addition, SEALERS DO NOT PREVENT FUTURE ETCHING (dullness due to spilling of any acidic liquid of food.)

FAQ…

What is the difference between the San Diego SC – “Stone Restoration Package” and the San Diego SC – “Stone Renovation Package?”

  1. The exact same seven steps performed in the San Diego SC – Renovation Package are included with our San Diego SC –  “Restoration Package, however, our Restoration Package goes one step further.
  2.  The one Major extra step with our Restoration Package is…Lippage Removal (fully grinding the stones surface to completely flatten the surface).
  3. I say “major step” due to the fact that, depending on the unevenness of the stones, this step alone can take longer than all the following finishing steps together. We must grind the stone completely flat, a very time consuming process before we can complete any addtional steps.
  4. Additionally, since the lippage removal is a grinding process this will guarantee that ALL Scratches, Etches & Other Damage will be removed.
